I graduated from the Georgian Academy of art, Tbilisi in 1992, having completed the fashion and textiles course. I have been drawing since I was two, I am a graphics artist. My basic method of work is with a pen and ink but I instinctively depend on my imagination. I generally like to draw people’s figures. They live within my own personal mythology, during the process of drawing they seem to talk with me by which I emotively translate them as figures on to the page. I am taken by the plasticity and eroticism of the human body. The figure to me is not just an element of the body but also the source of my inspiration. The most expressive element in my drawings is detail; the movements of the hands, feet, or the shapes of the face, their features are grotesque and are full of emotional meaning. I also like to feature a decorative element within my art. My drawings often feature arrows within them, I find this mysterious and have no conscious reason of why they seem to appear.
